Will 2008 be YOUR year?

Are you ready to finally stop planning, dreaming, and wishing you had your book published?

If so, make a promise to yourself that you will get your book written and published in 2008. Put it in writing, stick it up on your fridge, tell your loved ones, and decide to get it done.

There is great power in drawing a line in the sand and saying, "Enough already! I'll write the book!"

People are waiting to read your words, to get the solutions that only you can provide for them. The world is full of hurting people who need ideas, solutions, and support.

Time expands enough to fit in all the things you want to do, if you really want to do them and are committed.

Here are some practical ideas that will help you find the time to complete your book in 2008:

  1. Look at your January calendar now and block out at least three 20-30 minute blocks of time to write each week. Don't break these appointments with yourself. Repeat this process monthly.

  2. Create a robust outline so when it is time to write, you can write, not plan.

  3. Work when you are at your best. Find the time of day when you are the most clear headed and creative. Don't try to write when you are exhausted at the end of the day unless you are a night person.

  4. Create a ritual to begin your writing time in the same way. Put on music, make some tea, take a brisk walk, do anything that gives you a mental break and signals that it is time to write now.

  5. Set mini-deadlines. Decide when you'd like to have your book finished and work backwards from there. Set dates for completion of each section or chapter.

  6. Write without editing. If you edit while you write, it will take forever and feel awful. Trust me on this one!

  7. Celebrate your progress along the way. Reward yourself for each week you keep your writing appointments or each time you finish a chapter.

  8. Write as quickly as possible. You will actually improve your writing that way.

  9. Make the process fun!
